There are a lot of buzzwords people use when it comes to fibers. But what do they mean? There are lots of different 'types' of fiber, but the ones we really want to know about are Kanekalon fibers and Heat Resistant fibers.
Kanekelon Fiber: If you are not planning to curl or flat iron your wig, this is the fiber you want to make sure your wig is made out of. What most people don't know is that there are a lot of different levels of quality even when it comes to Kanekalon fiber. DON'T BE FOOLED. Just because your wig seller says their wig is made of Kanekalon doesn't mean it's soft and doesn't tangle.
The highest quality Kanekalon, true Kanekalon, should be extremely soft to the touch and rather fine. It is very easy to comb through with one's fingers. It is also semi-shiny. There is a drawback for this fiber, though; it's so smooth it tends to shed a bit more than other types of fiber, as the hairs are somewhat easily slipped out of the weft if pulled hard enough. Since it is so slippery, the longer wigs do tend to tangle a bit more, as well. True Kanekalon doesn't come in many unnatural colors.
C-fiber: This is the next highest quality of Kanekalon. It is slightly more coarse, but comes in more colors. This fiber is what most "Kanekalon" wigs are made from. Neither true kanekalon nor C-fiber can be used with high heat styling options, but you can use blow dryers and hot water curling so long as you are mindful of how hot the fibers are getting.
There are many lower qualities than these, but Arda doesn't stock anything that we wouldn't want to buy ourselves. If the wig isn't listed as heat resistant, you can be assured it is one of these two types of fibers.
Heat Resistant Fiber: Lots of people find heat resistance important in their wigs, but it's important to realize when buying heat resistant fiber that you're making sacrifices in other areas. Heat resistant fiber is not as soft or as pliable as kanekalon. However, you do have the benefit of being able to high heat style this fiber with a flat iron or a curling iron.
It's also important to know the TYPE of heat resistant fiber you're buying.
Hiperlon Fiber: This is the highest quality heat resistant fiber available on the market, and not many places stock it as it is not made in China. It has virtually no sheen and is able to be styled at heats up to 420 degrees. Hiperlon is coarser than powerlon and henlon, but incredibly durable and we find it easiest to manage and maintain. Hiperlon takes very well to dye, products, and styling. MOST OF ARDA'S HIGH HEAT WIGS ARE THIS TYPE OF FIBER. (All colors are this fiber except our C3 UltraViolet, C4 Lightning Pink, C24 Seafoam Green. Check the photo of the wig, it will state if a color is not heat resistant in the photo)
Powerlon Fiber: Powerlon is most often blended with hiperlon to increase the types of colors and the "natural" look of the wigs. It is softer than hiperlon but coarser than henlon, and takes very high heats relatively well. Many popular Japanese wig sellers have wigs made mostly of this fiber.
Henlon Fiber: or Chinese heat resistant fiber: Most heat resistant wigs on ebay are made of this type of fiber. It has a high sheen on it and a very smooth, almost wax-like appearance. This is the cheapest, lowest quality type of heat resistant fiber, and the most readily available. Henlon fiber does not take well to dye, or products when styling, due to its very waxy surface, and is not as easy to comb out when tangled. This fiber has low durability and a much shorter lifespan.
Armed with this information, we are hope our customers are able to spot the type and quality of wig they're buying, and to ask questions of their sellers. If your seller can't or won't tell you the type of fiber they're selling, they're probably not worth buying from.

It's very important to realize synthetic wigs are NOT real hair, and therefore you can't treat them the same way or use the same products on them. Here are a few general rules for how to care for your wig:
DON'T
Use combs, small brushes, bristle brushes or wire brushes, even wig brushes. They will pull and stretch your fibers and make them kink up, or pull the fibers out of your wig altogether.
Use gels, hairsprays with colors in them, dyes made for hair, or pomades on wigs. Hair dyes will do nothing for synthetic wigs at all, and products will gunk up your wig and make it nasty.
Throw your wig in a drawer to store it. It will get tangled and come out looking ganky!
DO
Use your fingers to get out tangles. There has never been any tangle we have not been able to get out using our fingers and a lot of patience. It's better on your wig and will come out looking nicer.
Use hairspray and a blow dryer to style your wig. Even tall spikes can be achieved with hairspray and a blow dryer. We recommend Got 2B brand hair spray, which comes in a yellow air horn and is available in any hair product isle.
Store your wig in the bag it came in, or on a wig head. This will help it stay nice and keep its shape.
Use shampoo or a mild detergent to wash your wig. Let it hang dry, preferably on a wig head.
Sharpie dyes and FW ink dyes, combined with alcohol, can be used to change the color of your wig. There are many tutorials on the internet. You can make a light wig darker up to a point, but you can't make a dark wig lighter, or make a white wig black.
Use a wig cap! Even if your hair is short, it will help keep the wig on. Bobby pins are also a must, especially if you have a small head, or the wig is heavy and long.
Use the sizers located in the back of your wig. They look like bra straps and hook into the elastic at the nape of the neck. This will make big wigs smaller, but they will NOT make smaller wigs bigger!

At Arda, we pledge to do three things for you:
First, we are committed to bringing you the highest quality of fiber we possibly can at the LOWEST possible price. We like to sell things we believe in, and we want you to know we are on your side. If there's something you'd like to see, a problem you have, or a color you just can't find, let us know. We want to help, and are always taking suggestions for styles. Other companies will be hard pressed to beat what we offer at the price we offer it.
Second, our caps are the biggest around. No more headaches or not being able to get your hair in the wig, or having wefts show. Like we said, you can always make a wig smaller, but making a small wig bigger is a lot more difficult! Our caps are 22-23 inches on average, unextended.
Third, we aim to bring you the thickest, most luxurious wigs on the market. We know it's hard to style or spike a wig with no hair, so we're always trying and improving our product to make it the best. You can be assured that there is at least one and a half to two times the amount of hair in our wigs as in any other wig on the market.
